stevens was killed, also killed a computer expert and two ex-navy s.e.a.l.s. bob redell joins us live in san francisco where thousands of expected to turn out for today's memorial for stevens. he also has new details on the investigation into that attack. good morning, bob. >> reporter: good morning, laura. the family of ambassador christopher stevens has invited the family to attend the memorial service. it will take place around 4:30 this afternoon in san francisco city hall in the rotunda. several hundred people are expected to attend. stevens was from the bay area, having lived in piedmont, graduated from cal and the uc hastings law school before entering the foreign service, eventually becoming the u.s. ambassador to libya. his brother and sister are supposed to speak at today's service. also in attendance, libya's ambassador to the united states, senator diane feinstein, and thomas pickering, the person who has been charged with investigating the security surrounding stevens the day he died. ambassador stevens and three other americans were killed during a september 11th attack on

rob somebody on the stevens creek trail. a man who looked like this approached the victim. and tried to take his backpack. the two struggled and they fell to the ground. the suspect took off without the backpack. the victim suffered some minor injuries. anybody who has that information about the attempted robbery is asked to please call mountain view police. >>> searching for a serial burgl burglar, someone they say doesn't even care if homeowners are home when they strike. eight daylight home burglaries have been reported. police believe a lone suspect is responsible for all of them. in one instance, the suspect escaped after being confronted by the homeowner. police are warning alameda residents to make sure windows and doors are locked at all times. the warning comings after more than 20 residential burglary reports in just the past three weeks. in one case, burglars even stole the family's pet pug. police say the majority concentrated on the south side of town but so far no leads on suspects. police are asking neighborhood watch groups to keep an eye out for unfamiliar cars or pe
